Nordstrom Arrives
Nordstrom may be new to Toronto but my relationship with Nordstrom goes way back, all the way back to my undergraduate days at the University of British Columbia. One of my most cherished friends from university, Rachel, is from Seattle, a beautiful American city located a mere three hours South of the border (by car). Most long weekends, and maybe some missed school days, Rachel, myself, and some other friends would jump on a Greyhound and trek down to the Americas! Why? Because isn't everything bigger and better in America?! Well, lets not go there, but back then, us Canadians didn't have the same big department store shopping conglomerates readily available at our fingertips like we do now. I must admit that most of my Nordstrom shopping, was in fact, window shopping and drooling. As a poor university student, I couldn't afford the brands I wanted to wear. So why did I love it so much? Insert Nordstrom's Rack. This clutch, off-shoot of Nordstrom's was my heaven. It housed all the previous season's unsold merchandise, on-sale for incredibly low prices - that I could just barely afford. That was something I could get behind. Who knows if Nordstrom's Rack will make an appearance in Toronto, but thankfully for Nordstrom, and my wardrobe, I can afford to spend slightly more on clothing these days.
